Comedy/Spoken.». Spoken Word. Spoken Word records contain poems, stories and sketches as recited by authors and actors, or they're documents of interviews and speeches with historical figures. Frequently, they're enhanced with musical backdrops, but throughout it all, the emphasis remains on the spoken word.

Spoken word is a form of literary art where lyrics, poems, stories etc. are spoken rather than sung, or written with the intention of it, without the focus of music, but on the content. However, accompanying background music is quite common. View wiki.

I plan to listen to all four CDs again of _Poetry on Record: 98 Poets Read Their Work _. For me, there were many surprises and delights: the tenderness of Robert Hayden (I never heard of him `til now--honestly!), the voices of Ezra Pound, Dorothy Parker, Elizabeth Bishop, Dylan Thomas, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Maxine Kumin, Adrienne Rich, Marge Piercy, and Charles Bukowski/5(16).

Apr 10,  · Caedmon was bought by Harper Collins. They did release some titles (such as Under Milk Wood) on CD. By the way, that was a recording of a performance at the Y. I was not there, as I was celebrating my first birthday that day, but a few years later I served as co-chair of the Poetry Committee with the woman who helped the intoxicated Dylan Thomas to the stage.
